The fact that disturbing movies like “Cuties” and others are being normalized on Netflix is extremely troubling, and just as troubling is the fact that Netflix’s CEO/founder is using his fortune to influence students in classrooms across America.
Reed Hastings, co-founder and co-CEO of Netflix, may not be a household name but his ideology might be more present than you think. Hastings not only founded Netflix, but also served as a director of Facebook from 2011 until May of 2019. He also served on the board of Microsoft from 2007 until 2012. His massive fortune is estimated at over 5 billion dollars, and he is using that fortune to influence educators across America.
Hastings recently bought a 2100 acre ranch in Colorado that he plans to use as a “training ground for American public school teachers”. While his company is releasing films like “Cuties,” one must wonder what exactly the type of training is that these teachers will receive on Hastings’ luxury ranch. “Retreat Land at Lone Rock” gives a creepy vibe, and it will further Hastings’ political influence through the highly impressionable field of education.
In 2016, he announced that he created a fund with $100 million which would finance various educational organizations. Since then, he has been part of the charter school movement. (This is one of the reasons why charter schools might not be the silver bullet when it comes to the radical left’s control over education. If a radical leftist is providing the funds for a charter school, the students who attend that charter school will merely receive a better version of a leftist indoctrination.) Recently, Hastings announced that he donated $120 Million “to Black education.” In 2016, Hastings contributed $6,000 to fund radical DeRay McKesson’s campaign for mayor of Baltimore.
With all of this purchased influence in education, Hastings is just one example of a radical leftist using their money in order to impact the education system. Awareness of the leftist control over education is not enough. With lefist billionaires using their fortunes to corrupt the minds of our youth with lies and fake histories like the 1619 Project, moderate and conservative business leaders and individuals must start financing organizations like The Locke Society. Unless we start training teachers and start providing usable educational materials, the American dream will be replaced with a nightmare.
