The endeavor into this new frontier brought an urgency for the sake of defense and world peace. The United States’ triumph in space was not only a scientific achievement, but a necessity. In this lesson, students will analyze the differing finances behind the emerging space programs to contrast rival economies, and evaluate the creation of the National Aeronautics and Space Act in regard to America’s posterity and its purpose today.
